Introduction

Hello, all! My name is Emily, and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am entering my third year as a middle school librarian (schools around here give the title of “librarian” without the degree). Before that, I was a middle school English teacher for 9 years. I’m taking a few classes this fall, and I’m planning to do my e-port in the spring. It’s pretty exciting to be this close to being done, although I still have a lot of work before I’m done!

I signed up for this course in part because I feel that I have a lot of room for growth in this area. I’m not especially tech savvy, and I’m hoping this will help! Also, it’s an area of need for my e-port evidence, and I remember enjoying Dr. Stephens’ videos from INFO 200.

Outside of work and school, I spend time with my family. We love camping and hiking when we can, and my daughter and I tend to enjoy playing together quite a lot. She thinks of the most fun imaginary scenarios, which keeps things interesting! We also have 2 dogs, a cat, a snake, some chickens, and a tarantula, so things can be pretty lively around here. I love sewing, especially for my kiddo, but I definitely don’t have much time for that during the school year. I am, however, going to do my best to sew her Halloween costume that she recently requested. After my e-port is done, I plan to sleep and sew excessively!

I’m looking forward to this semester and seeing everyone’s blogs! Here are a couple of pictures of my kiddo and our dogs.

  1. Hi Emily!
My mother made all our Halloween costumes growing up and that’s such an art! So much time and care and it’s one of my favorite memories of extra little things my mother did for us. I love the pictures!

  2. Hello Emily! Yay for dog and kiddo pics! I am also in the “my mom made my Halloween costumes” group too… I recently found the ObiWan cloak she made for me in 1977!

    Welcome to #hyperlib!
